Welcome, Witches!
How is this shiny new year treating you so far? Fresh off of yesterday’s amazing New Year’s Revolution workshop, I’m feeling inspired and ready to take on the world.
And with that energy flowing through me, I thought: what better time to re-introduce myself to you all — subscribers old and new — and share what I’m committed to in this newsletter and in, well, life.
What am I waiting for? Let’s get to it!
The Goal Guru, She’s Me!
One Woman, Many Hats
For anyone who skipped the About Page: Hi, I’m Meaghan, aka The Goal Guru. Life & career coach, feral auntie, astrologer, sane-and-humane work advocate, dog guardian, pop culture witch, eldest daughter, Capricorn rising, tarot enthusiast, and much, much more.
I’m on my third (fourth?) career and first husband, and we and our ridiculous dog live in upstate New York.
And I have a really important message for you:
Is it cheesy? Maybe. But cheese is delicious.
And I’m on a mission to share this cheesy belief that creating a life full of magic and wonder isn’t just possible; it’s what we’re here on earth to do. Your magical life exists…
When you get stuck at the office late again.
When your car tire blows out.
When your whole house gets the flu at the same time.
When you’re making the same thing for breakfast you have every day.
When you’re scrolling social media but know you should be in bed.
When we craft a life worth caring wholly, fully, and authentically about, magic happens not in spite of life’s mundane—even crappy—moments, but because of them.
“Meaghan cares. Like, just a lot.”
- Peer Review, 2016; Also several report cards, probably
Who Cares? I do.
Generally, caring is seen at best as a punchline, and at worst an outright weakness. We venerate the nonchalant and celebrate the unattached.
Spoiler: That’s not me. I. Care. My friends know it. My family knows it. Hell, my dog knows it.
I give the most fucks. And I give all the shits. I notice, I care, and often I swear.
It’s my super power for creating a life that’s both weird and wonderful, even when there’s dog barf on the rug. It’s my secret sauce for building a career that fills me with excitement and energy, instead of feeling like the cog in someone else’s machine.
In sharing it, I believe that power can be yours, too.
How? Well for me, that power is built four fundamental beliefs:
I. Where Caring Goes, Magic Follows
Magic is nothing more and nothing less than action spiritually aligned with will. Spells, prayers, rituals, manifestations, hexes—you name it. They all begin with a clear want or desire. A whole-hearted embracing of how we want things to be.
They all begin with caring. And they all end with action meant to bring that reality to life. There’s magic in your calendar, in your chore chart, in your journal, in your wedding vows, in your mortgage — there’s magic anywhere intention and action come together.
When we embrace what we care about, our lives fill to the brim with magic.
II: Witches Get Stuff Done
Being in touch with magic means being in touch with what we want and who we want to be.
And that energy makes us powerful. Witches know what they want, and they make it happen.
III: Yer a Wizard Witch
If exercising your will in the world is inherently magical, it stands to reason that all of us are more or less magical. Your witch bit is that little spark of magic that makes life more than just wake-work-eat-sleep-repeat.
It’s the part of you that loves a sunset, feels the changing of the season, and can makes ideas into reality. It’s part of you that believes there’s more to life than a paycheck and speed-running through life’s most important milestones.
We all have access to more magical lives.
IV: Swearing Is Caring
Swearing isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it is definitely mine.
Curse words express emphasis and, in their own way, caring. Their presence in one of these newsletters is meant to jolt a little and even be a little uncomfortable.
Whether colorful language lands for you or not, it’s worth considering: how do you express your strongest feelings? How do you emphasize your deepest convictions? Knowing not just what you care about but how you show it is key to tapping into it on purpose.
Making More Magic
So…that’s me. Let me know more about yourself and your brand of magic with the comment button below.
In the meantime, if infusing your work, your relationships, and your life with magic, jokes, and the occasional expletive is up your alley, you’re in the right place. I’m so glad you’re here.
Come along with me, and let’s make some magic. 🪄
And That’s All She Wrote!
She, of course, being me. I hope you enjoyed the read — I had a lot of fun writing it for you!

See you all next Tuesday for some planetary fun and who knows what else!
Alright so you were at Laura and Bay's New Year workshop and even through the portal that is Zoom, across a continent I knew I liked you/felt connected by your magical energy. I started following this newsletter before that "meeting" and didn't put it together until after, so hello again! and thanks for sharing more here about who you are and why you're here *gestures to the world*
I think the magic I feel called towards is similar to what you've described. It's the caring. It's the "Hey I was just thinking about you and you magically reached out right in that moment" actions that people attribute to me. It's the SHEER FUCKING JOY of new stationary (thank you for highlighting those pens!), finishing a project, the smell of rain, etc etc.
I second the current burnt out at work feeling ~ thanks for bringing a bit of magic to my day 💙
I think I’ve been burning out at work lately and this was just the inspiration I needed to get back in there with an adjusted attitude! Thank you so much for acknowledging that caring and empathy are very important qualities ❤️❤️ also I’m excited the pens got a shout out 😁😁
