Welcome, Witches!
Merry Christmas to those who celebrate! I hope everyone had a regenerative, rejuvenating holiday full of joy, love, and minimal travel strife.
Today, I have a very special installment to share with you: our first ever guest post!
But first a word from our sponsor—me! Seats are open for my New Years Revolution workshop on Monday, January 8th. It’s fun and free, but non-client seats are limited, so get yours now!
Our transit of the week is Venus, the planet of love and pleasure, trine Neptune the ruler of dreams and illusions. When I saw it in the forecast, I just knew it was time to bring in someone truly special to discuss this lovely end of year transit.
It’s my pleasure to introduce: Laura Westman coach extraordinaire, author, podcast host, youtube sensation, Disney adult, and deeply imaginative leader. Because she’s such a fabulous human, she’s agreed to explore this magical transit with us this week through the power of dreams.
What are we waiting for? Let’s get to it!
I have a reputation among my friends for having vivid messages come through dreams. And those dreams give me so much creative power. This Neptune/Venus trine is a perfect place to explore yours.
Let’s discuss.
When I was a moody-ass teenager, I painstakingly took down my dreams in the mornings. I had a composition notebook that I’d covered in stars using a silver Sharpie. I carried that notebook with me through my first few classes, using any free time I had to capture the elusive, mysterious visions of the night. Even then, I had an inkling that my dreams played an important part in how I understood the world. How I saw my place in it. How I tried to figure out how to fulfill my destiny with my crush, Jake. Clearly his presence in my dreams so often meant something.
IT MEANT SOMETHING!
Probably more truthfully, receiving dreams meant that I meant something.
It gave me some kind of cosmic conversation to dance in, some kind of purpose beyond grades and adult’s evaluations. They were personal. These small, private ways of synthesizing life and creating just for myself.
Dreams let us briefly dip into a different language, a different realm, and take a little bit back with us.
Receiving a vision and then taking time to discern its message is a truly magnificent act of creative power.
These days, I don’t hold dreams with any less reverence, though I can’t say I often hold them quite so literally. If a dream sticks with me after I wake up, I still like to write out the dream — but now I go beyond simply what happened in it. I ask simple but Venusian questions:
How did it feel?
How was I feeling?
What changed throughout the dream?
How do these things mirror back other parts of life right now?
Usually, the metaphors are clear after I do this kind of “dream work” and get curious about common themes.
Sometimes, I’ll send the dreams to my friends in voice notes just to let the moment be witnessed. Or sometimes, the dream is offering me some kind of permission, and I just need someone to validate it.
Sometimes the permission is around letting something go.
Sometimes the permission is a new way to see something that’s been in the way (just had one of these last night).
Sometimes . . . the permission is about a deep sense of joy or desire, some new big idea coming to the forefront.

Smoosh the opulence and magic of Venus energy in with an imaginative, dreamy vibe of Neptune.
Our friend Neptune brings us these elusive, mysterious visions of the night, but “he” doesn’t tell us what’s true about them, or even what’s real. It’s up to us to discern what feels real or true, what gifts we want to take, when a bad dream needs our attention, or when it really was just bad shrimp or something.
Dreams let us briefly dip into a different language, a different realm, and take a little bit back with us. This week, Venus is supporting this indulgence (she loves to indulge), and with her support comes even greater creative benefits to dipping into our imagination.
Try It At Home: What-If Yourself
For example, what if you spent some time literally daydreaming about some fantasies coming true in your life? We usually give our creative energy to things like problem solving, sometimes with more success than others. But what if we brought this Venus/Neptune trine with us, and asked some truly wonderful AND indulgent, dreamy questions?
If I had the dreamiest life ever, what would it involve? What would be dreamy about it on a day to day basis?
What are some of my fondest wishes these days? What if I turned up those wishes to maximum loveliness?
What if I took something “hard” (like money, or time) and imagined a reality in which it’s literally soooo so so “soft” instead?
Neptune and Venus show us that sometimes, being a teeny bit delulu can actually be our solulu.
Try It At Home: Harry Potter Version
Another, more playful angle you can take: Pretend you’re Dumbledore and you have have a Penseive.
Now, instead of putting memories into it, I like to imagine I’m putting two distinct things — maybe things that feel mutually exclusive —in and letting them interact and float around and see what COULD happen.
What would happen if a strong sense of security could also exist with a strong spirit of adventure in your life? Nobody knows until you ask them to float around together.
Letting ourselves drift around in a powerful sense of “what if”is a lost art, and one I talk about a lot on my Youtube Channel, because it’s a source of internal power we too often turn our backs on.
Finding Power in Your Dreams
We get so stressed and bogged down by the demands of adulthood that we forget we are not only allowed to dream and wish, but we are also immensely revitalized by spending our time doing it.
Don’t you feel a bit more amazing and important after spending time with your dreams (literal or otherwise)? Like teenage me, do you feel a sense of mattering? Or like adult me (especially if you try the exercises above) you might find you’re more clear on who you are and what matters to you.
Dabbling in dreams can be a strong creative energy that will fuel your decision making, life direction, and overall sense of personal well being, if you let it.
So whether you believe your dreams mean anything or not, why not claim the creative power of your imagination? How do you distinguish between truth and illusion, between dream and delusion? You’re the only one who can do this properly for yourself.
My dreams as an obsessive teen weren’t necessarily saying I was going to be Jake’s wife. But they were revealing the depths of my desire and how closely I held that relationship, how much it meant to me during that time.
That’s arguably more important information in the grand scheme of things.
And guess what? Neptune and Venus show us that sometimes, being a teeny bit delulu can actually be our solulu.
And that’s all she wrote!
She, of course, being Laura. I hope you enjoyed the read — we had so much fun putting it together for you!
