Ok, now to the astrology. As of today, Venus and Mars have both returned to their home signs of Taurus and Aries respectively.
Much of the astro-internet is cheering for the homecoming of these two planet,s and it got me thinking of how we show up when we return to our old stomping grounds and a dynamic that’s been cropping up in my astro-coaching sessions often: Winning Strategies and how they hold us back.
What am I talking about? Let’s get to it!

Winning Strategy: Who’s She?
Ok, let’s start by de-coaching the jargon. Or de-jargoning the coach. Whichever.
What is a winning strategy? In coaching, a winning strategy is the way we know to act to get what we want or need. We all have them and most of us have several of them since they emerge in different situations and contexts.
For example, imagine getting into a disagreement with a family member about who is hosting a holiday this year. You can probably already picture who this person is, what each of you want, and what steps you might take to try to ‘win’.
Or let’s say you’re starting a new job and you want to impress the boss, but you’re not all that familiar with their habits or preferences yet. I bet your brain is already offering ideas of how you could learn more about your boss, or actions you could take that would impress anybody.
These are winning strategies. They are basically your personal toolbox for achieving your aims in a variety of circumstances based on what’s worked for you in the past.
And That’s…Bad?
Not inherently. After all, its generally good to get gtting the things we need and want, right?
The issue with winning strategies is that we tend to deploy them automatically; they are knee-jerk patterns. In reaction to some event, we react in a certain way, often convinced we must. That it is the only way to react, and we have no other option.
In short, we limit ourselves and our choices, because it feels safe, comfortable, and dependable.
Back to the Astrology of It All
With Mars and Venus in their home signs, there’s going to be a lot of comfort in the air. And it won’t be limited to just the snuggle-up-on-the-couch-with-a-cup-of-tea kind of comfort, but also the comfort of those winning strategies.
Venus will be reveling in her surroundings and possessions, and she might be reluctant to share that bounty. And Mars will be so gung-ho for progress and forward motion, that it might be hard to catch a breather in his whirlwind of activity.
Either or both energies could show up in our lives this month. Or our own winning strategies might rear their heads in our relationships (Venus) and conflicts (Mars).
Consider this an invitation to look for these patterns in your life, especially as they are more likely to show up now. Ask yourself: How do I act when I want something from someone else? How do I react in conflict? And finally, Do these patterns of behavior reflect who I want to be?
And That’s All She Wrote!
