Ok, humble brag over. Back to the astrology, because we have one major thing to talk about this week:
MERCURY IS RETROGRADE IN ARIES, BABES!
That’s right, yesterday Mercury went retrograde in the sign of the ram and will stay that way until April 25th. And to me, the whole thing is giving “The Frizz” vibes. Today we’re gonna talk about what the hell that means and what you can do with that energy.
What am I waiting for? Let’s get to it!

Mercury RX: Redux
Let’s start by getting to know our players. First, there’s Mercury Retrograde. She gets all kind of bad astro-press and it’s safe to say her reputation precedes her. Generally speaking, most of what we fear about Mercury Retrograde is misconception, and I’ve explored the how and whys of that before.
But still, let’s refresh on the main points: A retrograde is when a planet appears to be moving backwards from our position on Earth. The symbolism of this illusion means to slow down, revise, redo, and/or revisit the energy at play. And since Mercury has a hand in almost every aspect of our day-to-day lives, we are collectively called to slow down and be open to re-doing things.
AND BOY DO WE COLLECTIVELY HATE THAT.
People get hella frustrated at this call to slow down, particularly when their Zoom tries to update without warning. And in part this frustration seems to come from the delusion impression that life is always about moving forward.
But as I’ve said before, this universe-imposed slowdown is a real gift, especially if we allow ourselves space to embrace it. However, we might find embracing this retrograde more challenging than most because…
Aries: Who’s He?
…It’s happening in Aries, and he is not really about any of the things a retrograde is here for.
No, Aries wants to GO whether or not its a good idea or not. And he feels a real urgency to do so. Aries wants to start that fire in you, to inspire you to blaze a trail and do something new. He’s not super concerned about how things get done, or the “consequences” of actions. He just wants to go-go-go.
We also covered this recently, so for a deeper dive, feel free to hop over there. But suffice to say, Aries is not really into the whole retrograde scene.
It’s Giving Magic School Bus
So then why am I so amped about these two seemingly opposing energies happening together?
Because I see a beautiful opportunity in these two signatures: The opportunity to get MESSY. That’s right, when Mercury goes retrograde in Aries this month, we’re all invited to embody our best Ms. Frizzle Energy. Take chances, make mistakes, and get messy!
Aries want you to go? Then GO! Whatever is in your head and heart, put it out there. That project you shelved, that creative thing you thought about starting, that idea you’ve never been comfy enough to share with someone else. Choose your adventure and put it out there.
Put yourself out there. Be imperfect on purpose and collect the data of being seen. And in the arms of retrograde, know that it’s going to be a full freaking mess. Embrace the idea that you will need to revise it, to change it, and to grow with it. Embrace the fact that mess is part of creation. Embrace your inner Frizz.
So this April, pull your inner Arnold aside and let him know that this will not be a ‘normal’ field trip at all, and that’s OK. Go start an adventure with the full knowledge that it’s not going to take you where you think it will. And that’s ok too.
And That’s All She Wrote!
